Job Overview: 
Working together with our global team at Sankyo Frontier, the Professional Engineer, Structural (Modular Building) is responsible for leading and delivering research, conceptual development, simulation and actualisation of modular building products alongside various departments in the company and local authorities, providing technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
 
Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Project Leadership & Collaboration
  • Take on the role of a project manager or team leader for projects, guiding and supporting new employees as a mentor.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and liaise with external consultant teams, architects, contractors, and suppliers to resolve project issues.
  • Work together with engineering partners and government authorities on product feasibility studies, product localization, and approval in Singapore and other target markets as required.

2. Research & Development
  • Work with the global R&D team on product improvement and development in Singapore and target markets.
  • Document and present research findings and developments to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop schematic designs, layouts, calculations, technical reports, and specifications.
  • Perform simulations and structural calculations on modular buildings, creating reports using simulation programs (e.g., Solidworks, ANSYS).
  • Create design reports to address technical issues and endorse design and technical reports.

  • 3. Regulatory Compliance 
    • Ensure all work meets the relevant regulations and standards, such as those from the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Singapore Standards (SS).
    • Perform site inspections and surveys to determine engineering needs and identify areas for improvement.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and prepare feasibility reports accordingly.

    4. Project Management
    • Offer technical assistance throughout different phases of the project, including end-to-end concept design, design progression, contract documentation, regulatory submissions, contract management, and site meetings.
    • Supervise and review the work of engineers in the project team.
    • Ensure project adherence to schedules.

    5. Additional Responsibilities
    • Travelling as required.

    Qualifications:
    • Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related fields.
    • Prior Working Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in building projects
    • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the Professional Engineers Board of Singapore
    • Language Skills: English (Working proficiency). 
    • Specific skills: Project management, AutoCAD, MATLAB, Solidworks, ANSYS or other relevant software.
    • Comprehensive understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, and regulations.
    • Able to work from October 2024 onwards.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Personal characteristics: Adaptable, strong leadership skills, good interpersonal communications skills, analytical and problem-solving, self-motivated, friendly, honest, team-player, humble and able to think from a global perspective.
    • Experience: Experience with steel construction & modular building projects preferred.

    • Conduct research on new materials, building and construction technologies, as well as building codes and regulations in Singapore and target markets.
    • Work with the global R&D team on product improvement and development in Singapore and target markets.
    • Perform simulations and structural calculations on modular buildings, and create reports using simulation programs (e.g., Solidworks, ANSYS).

    • Comprehensive understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, and regulations.
    • Able to work from October 2024 onwards.

    • Working Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm (Monday to Friday)
    • Work from home (WFH) on Fridays (Subject to the work schedule of that week)
